Wenham Hydrant Flushing to Last 3 Weeks, Could Cause Discoloration

Hydrant flushing is scheduled to start in Wenham on Oct. 21 and last for three weeks.

The Wenham Water Department plans to begin three weeks worth of hydrant flushing next week.

Wenham Water Superintendent Erik Mansfield said the flushing is planned to start on Monday, Oct. 21 and will happen between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays.

“Please be advised that some discoloration of the water may occur during this process,” Mansfield said in his announcement. “The discoloration of the water is only temporary and does not indicate a problem with the water.”

The water department will continue to monitor the water quality during the flushing to make sure the water remains safe to drink.
