What's Open and Closed on Columbus Day in Hamilton and Wenham

Columbus Day is a federal holiday that is observed on Monday. It always falls on the second Monday in October.

Here’s a look at some of what is open and what is closed on Monday. As always, it is best to call ahead.

Hamilton Town Hall and Wenham Town Hall: Closed

Hamilton-Wenham Library: Closed.

U.S. Post Offices and mail delivery: Post offices in Hamilton, South Hamilton and Wenham are all closed. There is no mail delivery.

Trash pickup: No trash pickup, pickup is delayed by one day all week.

Banks: All three banks in Hamilton are closed - Bank of America, People’s United Bank and Salem Five.

MBTA commuter rail: The Newburyport/Rockport commuter rail line serving Hamilton-Wenham station will operate on a regular schedule.

Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District: All schools closed for Columbus Day.

Pingree School: Closed for Columbus Day.

Supermarkets, convenience store, pharmacies, restaurants and other retail businesses: Many local businesses are open regular hours, but it is always good to call ahead. Use Patch’s Directory to look up contact information for any local businesses.

Liquor Stores: Allowed to be open, by law. Call ahead.
