About a block away from the scenic ocean view is the infamous Hingham Lobster Pound, whose fried, whole-belly clams and other fresh seafood plates are quite literally the talk of the town.
While it can be a little pricey, the Lobster Pound is a staple and if you haven’t been you must try it. Most will suggest the fish and chips, the huge whole bellied clams (if you’re into clam strips, this place isn’t for you) or the fried shrimp. Each come with French fries and coleslaw, of course, and are coated in a delicious batter than will blow your mind.

But… if you’re feeling a little bit more adventurous, can’t decide between all of the delicious options, and/or you’re willing to splurge ––both calorically and financially –– you must try the seafood combo platter.
Fried scallops that have been described by others as “marshmallow-y and fluffy” covered in batter, a piece of fresh haddock, and of course those gigantic, whole bellied clams, piled on top of crinkle cut fries with a side of ‘slaw. It’s the quintessential New England clam shack meal, and the perfect way to kick off your summer with a sunny day along the Hingham Harbor.

The is open daily for both lunch and dinner, except Mondays. The Lobster Pound also sells Lobsters for about a buck cheaper per pound than other stores in the area. The Lobster Pound is a hidden gem with tricky parking and no table service or outdoor seating, but once you get past that and take your food to the park for a picnic, you’re golden.
