Dr. Epstein To Present New Ideas on Helping Hingham Children with Challenging Behavior

"Think Differently: A New Approach for Understanding and Helping Children with Challenging Behavior" will be held Tuesday night at Hingham High School.

Dr. Larry Epstein, Director of School-Based Services for Think: Kids at Massachusetts General Hospital, will present “Think Differently: A New Approach for Understanding and Helping Children with Challenging Behavior" at on Tuesday night.

Dr. Epstein  offers a new way to understand and help all kids, but especially our challenging ones, Said Hingham Special Educational Parent Advisory Council who will host the presentation.

Challenging behavior has traditionally been thought of as willful and goal oriented which has led to approaches that focus on motivating better behavior using reward and punishment programs.  Research over the past 30 years demonstrates that for the majority of these kids, their challenges result from a lack of crucial thinking skills when it comes to things like problem solving, frustration tolerance and flexibility.
