East School Rallies To Win Visit From Red Sox Pitcher

By raising enough money for the Jimmy Fund on Red Sox Opening Day, East School could win a visit from Red Sox pitcher Daniel Bard.

is joining Rally Against CancerSM to support the Jimmy Fund.  Team East School Explorers led by Denise Kelley is “rallying” to win a visit from this year’s Rally Spokesplayer Red Sox pitcher Daniel Bard.

When the Red Sox suit up against the Tampa Bay Rays on opening day at Fenway Park Friday, April 13, Red Sox Nation is encouraged to Rally Against Cancer to benefit Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. By contributing $5 or more to the Jimmy Fund, participants have the opportunity to “Dress for Sox-cess” and wear Boston Red Sox gear to work or school April 13.

The top fundraising workplace and school (K-12, college, or university) are each eligible for a visit from Bard.

Joining the ranks of past spokes-players including Tim Wakefield, Clay Buchholz, Jon Lester, Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, and Trot Nixon, Bard is an ambassador for the Jimmy Fund, working to raise awareness and build support for cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

In seven years, Rally Against Cancer has raised $2.5 million to support the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber. This year, the program hopes to raise $650,000. The Jimmy Fund solely supports Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.
