Hingham Children’s Librarian Kathleen McGonagle said the event is designed to make early elementary school students practice their reading skills during the summer months.

Pike is a therapy dog from the Weymouth based Speech Circle and he often visits hospitals,  nursing homes and reads with kids. Last week, DelSignore and Pike read a story to Hingham children who got the opportunity to meet the friendly pup. DelSignore taught the kids the proper ways of petting a dog and she educated them about Pike who is a rescue dog that is a cross between a Schnauzer and a Poodle.
