Creating a learning lab, Gallagher blends the fundamentals of equipment, production and editing with a complex software called Final Cut; she used it when she worked in television.

Providing the knowledge and confidence to break down the complex, learning Final Cut is a transferable skill Gallagher said allows students to face any complicated, sophisticated software they run into.

Even for students who are not considering a career in production, this is an asset for our technology-driven society. She offers the example of working for a corporation wanting to produce video.

”Being the only person in the board room who can do that is pretty good job security” she said.

Seeing what Final Cut can do inspires students to go further with their ideas; they are able to move an idea from inside their heads to the point where others can watch it onscreen, Gallagher said.

All students can attend her classes, working their way to the coveted prize of producing HHS’ legacy “The ” which seniors produce.

In the studio right off the library, TVP 1 & 2 classes produce short video pieces that may be used as part of The Friday Show when they are strong enough.

Gallagher’s classes also support students with the social and emotional changes that are part of being in high school. Her learning environments offer a constructive outlet where students can vocalize and express.

For the seen and unseen ways you prepare students for well-rounded success in our ever-changing world, Hingham honors you as an Extraordinary Teacher!
