Hingham Girls’ Tennis Lose in Nail-Biter

The HHS girls' tennis lost on Wednesday in the Semi-Finals of the Team Tennis South Division 2 tournament.

The Hingham High School girls’ tennis run for a state championship ended on Wednesday, losing to Hopkinton 3-2.

HHS coach Linda Partridge called the game a nail biter as it came down to the final two doubles matches and three of the five courts went to very close three set matches.

In singles competition, Denny Lamachia from Hopkinton defeated  Julia Krumholz from Hingham 6-2, 6-0, Vanessa Prathab from Hopkinton defeated  Delaney Dunlap from Hingham 7-6, 6-0, and Millie Valero from Hingham defeated  Olivia Anderson  from Hopkinton 7-5, 3-6, 7-5.

It then came down to the two doubles matches to decide the match but Bevy Reynolds and Abby Nomandeau from Hopkington defeated Nikki Lund and Kristen Ferrucci from Hingham 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 to secure Hopkinton the win.

After Hopkinton already had a 3-1 lead, Hingham’s Maxine Bergstein and Ashland Stansbury got their final victory of the 2012 season, defeating Katy Cook and Ameera Hammouda 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
