Hingham Residents Encouraged to Participate in School Fields Meeting Tonight
Residents are invited to attend tonight's meeting about the Hingham athletic fields.

The athletic fields project will be discussed Wednesday night and the Ad Hoc Fields Committee and Long-Range Planning Committee encourages residents to participate in the meeting.
“We are trying to get more people involved,” said Caryl Falvey, vice chairman of the School Committee and chairman of the long-range planning committee.
Last Monday the School Committee recommended RAD Sports as the contractor for their athletic fields, according to an article on Boston.com.

Their bid came in at $447,000 and met all the conditions and is most qualified for the work, the Globe reported.
The committee would like to begin construction on track on June 4 and finish in time for the 2012 Fall sports season.

Tonight's Long Range Planning & Ad Hoc Fields Study Committees’ will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the and committees will discuss updates on the track and tennis courts as well as the cost of turf fields. The committee will also present a construction schedule to residents.
“The bulk of the agenda is dedicated to our ongoing discussions with Gale [Associates] relative to Phase II planning,” said Hingham Superintendent Dr. Dorothy Galo in a newsletter to parents. “We do hope for a good attendance at this important meeting. Fostering community input and developing community awareness are obviously key to the success of any project that we hope to present to the citizenry for support. Any outreach you can do will be helpful.”
At the , Gale Associates discussed the possibility of synthetic turf fields, lighting, sound along with the possibilities to avoid flooding.
