Hingham Schools Collecting Donations for Mass Tornado Victims

All proceeds from today's HHS Boys and Girls Lacrosse games this afternoon will be donated to Cathedral High School in Springfield.

The will be collecting donations for the victims of the recent tornadoes that struck Springfield and surrounding areas on Wednesday.

With the help of Student Council at, all the Public Schools will be collecting items such as children’s books, school supplies (paper, crayons, markers), gift certificates, and they will also be doing additional fundraising to raise money for Springfield Relief.  Also, all proceeds from today’s HHS Boys and Girls Lacrosse game this afternoon  will be donated to Cathedral High School in Springfield.  The boys will play at home at 5 p.m.   The girls will play at Notre Dame Academy at 3:45 p.m. in a State Tournament game.

 According to an email sent by  Hingham Public Schools,  there were at least two schools hit hard by the tornados. One was Cathedral High School who Hingham High School plays in Hockey,  the other is an elementary school in Westfield, Munger Hill Elementary. Cathedral High School had major damage to the entire building breaking windows, tearing off roofs and collapsing walls. Munger Hill had roof damage to many classrooms and supplies were destroyed.

Please drop off any donation to the front office at HHS or to Meghan Melanson by Thursday June 9th. Hingham Public Schools will be delivering all donations at the end of next week.
