HHS Athletic Director Wins Award

Hingham High School Athletic Director Margaret Conaty has been selected by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association as a 2011 recipient of its Distinguished Service Award. She was one of only ten athletic administrators in the country to be so honored this year.  Conaty was recognized for her service at the state level last spring because of the many contributions she has made to the athletic programs at HHS.

Freshmen Parents’ Night, PTO Meeting Thursday at HHS

Parents of freshmen are invited to meet principal Dr. Paula Girouard McCann at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8. Parents may raise questions about their children’s new school at this informal gathering in room 103. The first PTO meeting of the year will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the school library.

Hingham High School Open house

Hingham High School will hold its annual Open House on Thursday, September 22, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Following a brief general meeting in the auditorium at which principal Dr. Paula Girouard McCann will speak, parents will follow their child’s schedule through a typical school day. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to meet the teachers and to become familiar with course requirements and classroom procedures.

St. Paul’s, Others Part of Green Team

is part of the Massachusetts Green Team, an interactive educational program that encourages students and teachers to help the environment through waste reduction, reuse, recycling and composting. Sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the program encourages classroom and school-wide recycling and waste reduction efforts. Last

Youth Orchestra, Choruses Announce Auditions

South Shore Conservatory announces auditions for the Bay Youth Symphony orchestra program on Wednesdays in September by appointment. In addition, the Conservatory is holding open rehearsals for its Pure Treble and Pure Harmony student choruses on September 12 and 19. All events take place at the Conservatory’s Duxbury campus.
