Man Broke into Motel Room, Charged with 4 Counts of Assault and Battery with Dangerous Weapon: Police

Police say Phillip L. Attard robbed a room at the Arbor Inn on Route 3A.

WEYMOUTH, MA - A Scituate man has been charged with breaking into the Arbor Inn late Tuesday night.

Phillip L. Attardi, 47, was charged with armed robbery, armed assault and battery to intimidate with bodily injury, four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit a crime. He was held overnight without bail, according to the Weymouth Police Department.

At about 8:54 p.m., police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the motel. It was reported that two armed suspects left on foot after they allegedly entered the victim’s room and robbed them.

Nearby officers observed the two suspects fleeing towards Bridge Street. The suspects dropped several items and fled to the rear of the Arbor Inn. One of the items was later determined to be a starter pistol.

Several officers responded to the area to search for the two suspects including K-9 units from Weymouth and Hingham Police

During the commotion, a white SUV being operated by Attardi attempted to leave the area of the inn with the lights off. It was determined that the victims were familiar with Attardi and he was involved in the robbery.

The other two suspects were not located. A pellet gun was recovered from the roof of the Arbor Inn after a witness reported seeing one of the suspects throw a gun onto the roof.

The case is still under investigation by detectives.
