Notre Dame Wins Girls' Golf State Title, Hingham Finishes as Top Public School

Notre Dame Academy's reign as girls' golf State Champions continued as they won an 11th straight state title. In the same tournament Hingham High School girls' golf achieved their season goal by finishing as the top public school in the state.

Notre Dame Academy won its 11th consecutive MIAA girls’ team golf state championship on Tuesday at Holden Hills Country Club in Jefferson.

The Cougars were the only team to post all six scores under 100, with the top four scores counting toward their team total of 342, the Globe reported.

NDA David Gianferante sent five seniors and one sophomore in the competition.

girls’ golf team finished in third place with a team total of 385 just behind Ursuline Academy that finished with a 366.  HHS finished as the top public school in the entire state.

“The girls ended on a high note,” said Hingham High School Head Coach Robert Weiss. “The way I look at it we are number one (finishing behind two private schools).”

Teammates Emily O’Toole, Ashley Harkins, Mackenzie Millerd, Julia Pesci, Tori Messina, Sarah Centanni, Katherine Saleski and Audrie O’Toole all made the trip to the Holden Hills Golf Course.

HHS was led by junior Emily O’Toole who shot a team best, 93.  Hingham also saw impressive results from Harkins, a sophomore standout who shot a 95,  and Millerd, a junior who finished with a 98.

Coach Weiss said the team achieved their season goal of finishing as the top public school in the state and is excited about a bright future as the entire team will return next season.

“We are bringing the whole team back and plan on contending for championship next season,” Weiss said. “Keep an eye on us!”
