With several towns, including Hingham and Marshfield, yet to report fully, local residents could still influence which GOP candidate faces Democrat Rhonda Nyman in November. 
• Rep. Steven Lynch trailed in Boston — then the suburbs rewrote the story (masslive.com) — Voters in Hingham backed challenger Patrick Roath in this week's 8th Congressional District Democratic primary, even as incumbent Rep. Stephen Lynch won the district overall and secured another term. The race highlighted a city-suburb split, with Roath strong in Boston and Hingham but Lynch dominating in larger nearby communities like Quincy, Weymouth, Brockton, and Braintree.
• OBITUARY: Robert 'Rip' Amontea (hinghamanchor.com) — Longtime Hingham resident and restaurateur Robert "Rip" Amontea, former owner of Amontea's on North Street, has died at 76. Family and friends can pay their respects at visiting hours on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home on Emerald Street in Hingham, where his deep community ties and love of family will be remembered.
