It was a first day for their principal Mary Eastwood too. The longtime South School teacher started her first day as principal as she organized lines of students in the cafeteria.

Across town, Principal Charles Cormier greeted students as they made their way off the yellow Hingham school busses.
Standing in front of the PR School, siblings Alex and Jude Denning were very eager to begin second and third grade along with classmates who said they were excited to meet their new teachers.

At East School, Principal Tony Keady said he visited each of the classrooms and saw lots of happy children.
"The first day is going great," Keady said in an email to parents. " I just finished visiting each classroom... I saw many smiles."
Hingham Middle School Principal Roger Boddie also contacted parent to let them know that the first day started smoothly, even in their first year of construction at the school.
