South Shore Conservatory Offers Teen Rock Camp During February Vacation

Middle and high school singers, guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, drummers are and songwriters are invited to rock out while on vacation.

Middle and high school singers, guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, drummers and songwriters are invited to unleash their inner rock star at South Shore Conservatory’s new Rock Camp, coming February school vacation week to South Shore Conservatory’s Duxbury campus, 64 St. George Street.  

For four days, February 21 to 24, musicians from across the South Shore will join to form rock bands, learn the ropes and receive individualized performance coaching. 

Rock Camp’s curriculum, developed by South Shore Conservatory’s team of professional musician/educators, touches on every aspect of performing in a real band.  Workshops cover scales and soloing, rhythm playing, chords and inversions, licks and techniques as well as effective listening and improvisation.

Vocalists have the opportunity to experience being a both lead vocalist and backup singer.

Band rehearsals focus on stage presence, interacting with an audience and overall sound development. Videos of artists and bands are viewed and analyzed for stage, moves, costume development and audience participation.

From playing techniques to stage presence, Rock Camp presents a variety of workshops designed to turn the garage player into a confident performer.
Participants can “sleep in” during vacation week since each daily session begins at 12 noon and runs until 3 pm.  Friends and family are invited to the free final performance on Friday, February 24 at 2:30 pm.
