The sandwich: The "Turkado"
What's in the 'wich: Deli turkey, lettuce tomatoes cucumbers with avocado mayo on fresh-baked honey whole wheat bread
The verdict: There were elements of this sandwich that I liked --the fresh sliced cucumbers and tomato, and the subtly sweet honey whole wheat bread, for example.
But overall I didn't taste the turkey as much as I had hoped for. And though I did enjoy the avocado mayo, I feel like the condiment served more to keep the sandwich moist than to provide the avocado flavor that can be so enticing when done right.
Look, this is not a bad sandwich by any means -- it's light, refreshing, crunchy, especially nice during the summer. And the bread, as expected, had an exceptional grainy texture to go along with the unassuming sweetness.
This sandwich may be good enough for me to pick up again in the summer months, but it just doesn't cut it when I'm seeking for the best of the best in the Center.
What is the best sandwich in the Center? I've made up my mind, but you'll have to wait until Monday to find out, when we'll release our sandwich tour wrap-up video.
