Lexington Names New School Committee Chair: Report
Former chair Bill Hurley resigned amid his fight with cancer.

LEXINGTON, MA – The Lexington School Committee named a new chair Friday morning, following the resignation of former chair Bill Hurley, the Lexington Minuteman reports.
Alessandro Alessandrini will serve as chair until March, when the school committee votes for a new chair. Alessandrini told the Minuteman he is not opposed to serving a full one-year term as chair.
Alessandrini's appointment comes following Bill Hurley's resignation from the school committee on Jan. 3. Hurley stepped down amid health concerns while he battles lymphoma and leukemia, the Minuteman reported earlier this week.
