Minuteman is one of 196 schools in the state to be accorded this recognition for good sportsmanship.

The award will be presented to Minuteman at the Sportsmanship Summit at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on November 17, 2017.
"I am extremely proud of our Athletic Director, Heather Plater, our dedicated coaches and our student athletes,” said Minuteman Principal Jack Dillon. “Anytime your school receives an honor from the MIAA, it’s cause for celebration, recognition and applause. I have no doubt our athletic teams will continue to represent themselves and the entire Minuteman family with the highest degree of respect and responsibility."

“We have a really great group of students who do their best, play hard and exhibit class and good sportsmanship,” said Ms. Plater. “A lot of referees and parents say our students are extremely respectful and play hard. Wins and losses are important, but character and good sportsmanship are equally if not more important.”
She added, “We have great coaches. The majority of them work in Minuteman so they get to know our student athletes well. They are able to work with our athletes and teach them how to play hard and respect their opponents.”
In addition to thanking Minuteman’s student athletes and coaches for their exemplary conduct during games, Ms. Plater also noted the important role played by parents and guardians in encouraging their children to act with dignity and propriety.
“I think it makes sense to thank our athletes’ parents and guardians for raising their children to be respectful people,” Ms. Plater said. “Without this foundation, I don’t think earning this prestigious sportsmanship award would necessarily happen.”
