Five Things You Need to Know Today, Feb. 16

Today is Wednesday, Feb. 16. Here are five things you need to know:

Raise high the daytime temps: Yesterday’s cold and wind is mercifully gone, and today starts a legitimate warming trend, with high temperatures today in the low 40’s leading to highs in the mid-50’s by Friday.

Celebrating good deeds: This week for Patch Picks, we want to now about five non-profits in town that are making a difference. Malden’s fortunate to have so many charitable organizations working hard on behalf of its residents, and we’d love to give some of them a little well-deserved recognition. Tell us about a group you’ve worked with—or has given you a little help—here.

School Committee Special Meeting: The School Committee is holding a special meeting at 6 p.m.. There’s one item on the agenda: The School Superintendent search. The committee voted last week to go forward with a search without using a professional search service. That vote is up for reconsideration tonight.

Meditate on marinades: Drop by the senior center at 2 p.m. for a cooking class. Just remember, when cleaning your chicken, to save the liver.

Check out your kid’s version of events with her teacher: It’s parent-teacher night at Malden High School.  The sessions start at 5 p.m..
