Five things to finish up your week.

Today is Friday, June 10. Here are five things you need to know:

Enough of that unpleasantness: Well, the high temperatures didn’t reach 100, as expected, but it was still a very uncomfortable day. It’ll be cooler and drier today, with highs in the mid-70’s.  

Cleaning up: Yes, yesterday afternoon was a bit of an adventure, as the skied darkened significantly ahead of a brief but intense and of thunderstorms. The sudden violence to downed trees and power lines across the city. It also made commuting difficult as a tree on the Orange Line tracks. Those trees are cleared and today’s commute should—should—go easier.

The latest on the greatest: Head to the Jenkins Auditorium tonight for a special treat; the students involved with the Partnership for Community Schools in Malden have shot video interviewing World War II veterans, some of whom stormed the beaches in Normandy. The film premieres tonight.

Is this thing on? Got the voice of a songbird? Show it off at karaoke tonight at Dockside Riverview. The crooning commences at 9 p.m..
