Malden Deserves One Big 'Thank You!'

Hey, Malden. It's me, your friendly neighborhood Patch editor. I want to have a quick chat and say "Thank you!" in celebration of one year since I moved to the area.

As we've recently ramped up coverage on hyperlocal happenings around town, I wanted to give you a sneak peek "under the hood" of Malden Patch. Why? Well for every reader who tells me they love their daily Patch intake, there's another one asking me what exactly Patch is and how we do our thing.

Patch tries to keep you updated of what's going on around Malden. Some of it is vitally important, some of it may have more of a niche audience, but it's all meant to be locally enriching. Some examples:

• We had exclusive reporting on the state's education department finding that Malden Public Schools failed to protect a young student from bullying, followed by an examination into what that looked like.
• We shined a light on what started as misinformed rumors about a special education student being left on a bus for hours.
• We attend the meetings so you don't have to. Here are the details on a major upcoming improvement project at Oak Grove.
• We are all over local elections, from candidate forums to the real-time winner and results.
• And we're definitely not above a smile. Remember when this toddler was given a "cuteness warning" for driving without a license?

That's some of the local news we've reported to our more than 2,200 daily newsletter subscribers and more than 5,000 Facebook followers since just Aug. 1. In that same time, we picked up more than 150 new subscribers and more than 40 new Facebook followers.

And all that coverage was seen by more than 86,100 visitors to Malden Patch last month alone!
