One of the victims, Jorge Alberto Machado Mejia, 48, was pronounced dead at Whidden Hospital in Everett. The other victim, 45-year-old Moises Cortez, was treated for his stab wounds at a local hospital and released.
Authorities said Buruca was in a romantic relationship with the sister of one of the victims. Buruca allegedly had an argument and physical altercation with the victims at his East Boston home earlier in the night.
When the victims returned to their Malden home at about 1 a.m. after going out, Buruca was waiting for them with a large knife and attacked them as they entered, authorities said.
