MHS Senior Sheila Rachels Honored at Law Day Event

Rachels won an award and scholarship for her efforts.

Malden High School senior Sheila Rachels was recognized and honored at the Annual Law Day sponsored by the First District Eastern Middlesex Bar Association. The event was held at Malden District Court on Wednesday, May 18. Rachels was nominated by Rick Tivnan of the Social Sciences Department at Malden High School.

While at MHS Rachels has successfully completed US History I and II, World History, Justice and Government, Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Law as part of the Dual Enrollment Program at Bunker Hill Community College. She is also an original member of the first Mock Trial team at MHS.

“Sheila is an intelligent and insightful person, said Tivnan. “She is an enthusiastic learner who has displayed a deep passion for history and the other social sciences during her time here at MHS. Her work on the mock trial team was outstanding and contributed greatly to the overall quality of the team. Sheila was the perfect fit for this law day award, and I'm very happy for her.”

Rachels was accompanied by her mom, Ms. Healy (MHS Social Science Teacher), and Principal Dana Brown. Sheila received a $1,000 scholarship at the event.
