New Schools Head, More Money in your Retired Pocket and More

Five things to get your Tuesday cooking.

Today is Tuesday, June 7. Here are five things you need to know:

One more time: Today is the last complaint-free weather day for a while, so enjoy it. It’ll be sunny with high temperatures in the upper 70’s. Tomorrow brings heat and humidity.

New school honcho named: After delaying their process to accommodate Lowell Superintendent Chris Scott, the School Committee moved quickly Monday night and David DiRousi the top job in the department. Scott had withdrawn her name from consideration late Sunday night, leaving Revere’s DiRousi and Malden school system’s Robert McCarthy as the last two finalists standing. Expect more on this story later this morning.

Malden’s best slice? It seems nothing ignites passion like pizza. We asked Maldonians where they go for their favorite pizza, and have gotten some enthusiastic replies, which we’ll share as the week progresses. A couple of commenters have already weighed in with their own favorites. Click to join the conversation.

From the Charleston to the Macarena: Head over to the senior center at 1 p.m. for Dancing Through the Decades, a live demonstration of different dances through the ages.
