Raffles, Pool Woes and More

Five Things to start your day right.

Today is Thursday, June 30. Here are five things you need to know:

Hooray for sunshine: Yesterday’s humidity is gone, so enjoy what the National Weather Service says will be a beautiful day.

Two scoops of fiction: Take advantage of that great forecast and head over to the library as it kicks off its summer reading series with an ice cream party on the front lawn. Drop by at 1 p.m. to enjoy a treat and learn more about this summer’s book selections.

In case you missed it: Holland Memorial Pool, the DCR-owned facility on Mountain Avenue, will remain closed for the immediate future after a body was found in a DCR pool in Fall River. Officials want to review all safety procedures before reopening the facilities across the state.

Take a shot for a good cause: Bread of Life’s annual raffle tonight at 6 p.m. All proceeds go toward the venerable anti-hunger group.
