This comes less than a month after the healthcare system received a $100,000 gift from Main Street Group Foundation, the charitable arm of Main Street Bank. That funding will also go toward the hospital's emergency department.
The project will renovate and expand the emergency department, adding 10 brand-new treatment rooms and converting 3 existing rooms into convertible rooms for larger patients, along with 2 new dedicated trauma rooms. The expansion will nearly double the size of the hospital's emergency room.
Avidia Bank said its honored to support the renovation. “This project represents a meaningful investment in the communities that we both serve," said the bank's President and CEO, Rob Cozzone.
Construction on the hospital's emergency room began back in October and is expected to be complete by Nov. 2026. UMass Memorial Health said patient care should begin by December.
