Maguire: School Year Closes Ready to Open in Fall

Medfield Superintendent of Schools Bob Maguire called the 2010-2011 school year "great" and said the efforts of faculty and administration have the district ready to open in the fall.

Medfield Superintendent of Schools Bob Maguire said at the June 20 School Committee meeting that the district closes the book on the 2010-2011 school year ready to open in 2011-2012 – a value he believes is often underestimated.

"It really helps to have people understand where students are going to be next year and we work very hard to achieve that," Maguire said. "Certainly want to thank all the faculty and administration for all their efforts during a busy time of the year to get that all in and make it all go well. It’s been a great school year from my perspective and looking forward to working with summer planning and getting ready for the next one."

School Committee chair Susan Ruzzo reiterated the importance of being ready to open in the fall before the current academic year ends.

"I think we remove a lot of the anxiety, especially with the younger kids," Ruzzo said. "‘Who that person is; who’s in my class,’ it just makes it more like ‘OK, I know where I’m going.’"

The Medfield School Committee will not meet again until August and Maguire will be spending time this summer in China, ahead of the Medfield High School's trip for three weeks in October.
