28 MA Companies Are 2018's Best Midsize Employers: Forbes

MEDFORD, MA – Book publisher Penguin Random House is the best midsize employer for 2018 in America, according to Forbes’ annual rankings of best employers in the country. Massachusetts-based shoe and clothing company New Balance, along with Dana-Farber and TripAdvisor, made the top 10.

Forbes’ rankings were released on Tuesday and include 500 companies that have at least 1,000 employees. On the list are 28 companies based in Massachusetts. The highest ranked Bay State company on the list is New Balance (No. 2), which is headquartered in Boston.

Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to compile the list. Statista surveyed 30,000 people, asking respondents to rate how likely they’d be to recommend their employer to others, Forbes explains. Respondents were also asked to nominate organizations outside of their own, according to Forbes.

Penguin Random House jumped 32 spots to claim the No. 1 ranking on the list. Forbes says an entrepreneurial spirit shapes the employee experience at the company, playing a big role in recruiting as well as retention.
