Kitty Connection Holds Mini Online Auction June 12 - 14

MEDFORD –June 1, 2026 – Get ready for summer fun with items from <a href="https://www.kittyconnection.net/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Kitty Connection</a>’s <a href="https://www.myminiauction.com/kittyconnection" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">online Auction</a> Friday, June 12, through Sunday, June 14. The “Paws and Play for Summer” themed auction will raise funds to support the care of homeless cats and dogs, including pre-adoption veterinary procedures. 
“With the cost of everything from medical procedures to pet food and litter going up, Kitty Connection’s online auctions make a huge difference for the animals under our care,” said Marie Mazzeo, Founder and Director of Kitty Connection, a non-profit that relies on a network of volunteers and pet foster homes to carry out its mission of finding loving homes for cats and dogs in Greater Boston and the North and South Shores. 
Kitty Connection annually rescues more than 450 homeless animals, has a low-cost spay and neuter program and funds over 375 spay and neuter procedures for pet owners in need each year (email: <a href="mailto:lowcost@kittyconnection.net" target="_blank">lowcost@kittyconnection.net</a>). Volunteers provide foster homes for cats and kittens until they are adopted, and Kitty Connection ensures that they are spayed/neutered, tested for common illnesses, and vaccinated before they go to their new homes. Kitty Connection also provides community education and outreach about the importance of responsible pet ownership.
In addition to dozens of items for the home, pets, and gifts, “Paws and Play for Summer” mini auction highlights include: a $100 gift card for Polkadog Bakery, a natural dog treat business in Boston’s North End; a $50 Landry’s gift card useable at hundreds of dining and entertainment destinations; and a $25 gift card to Chi Modern Asian Cuisine in Swampscott. Online auction bidding will open at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and continue until 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 14. Ideally, Goldie needs a temporary foster - or, even better, permanent – home that is quiet, peaceful and has no other pets. Winchester’s Farmers Market, a community gathering place since 2008, opens for the season on Saturday, June 13.The Market, which operates from the second Saturday in June until the last Saturday in October, is open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.on the Town Common.Come and shop for fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, chicken, and meat from local farms, as well as fresh fish, and a tantalizing array of baked goods, prepared foods, and more. What to Expect
1:30–3:00 PM - Beginner Class A gentle, guided introduction to Argentine Tango.
You’ll learn how to walk in harmony with a partner, find your balance, and discover the rhythm that makes this dance unlike any other.
3:00–6:00 PM - Che Tango Practica After class, stay and dance (or simply observe) in a relaxed, social atmosphere. It’s where learning meets fun - with music, friendly dancers, and a chance to see how beginners and advanced dancers share the same floor.
3:30 PM - Performance by Ultimate Tango Teachers and Students A short showcase to inspire you - and show where your very first steps might take you.

Summer is a good time to try something you've been thinking about. Eight Thursday evenings and you'll know how to dance Argentine tango - and you'll have met people you wouldn't have met anywhere else.
People come to this course for different reasons. Some want to learn to dance. Some are looking for a new social circle. Some are curious about tango - the music, the culture, the way two people can have a full conversation without saying a single word. Some just wanted something worth doing this summer.
Whatever brings you, you don't need a partner and you don't need experience. Just show up.
What you'll learn: the tango walk, the embrace, the 8-count basic to the cross, how to connect and communicate non-verbally with a partner, how to read body language and respond to it, and the foundations of improvisation, navigation, and musicality.
Also included: every registered student gets access to the Tuesday Practica (8:30–11pm) at no extra cost. More floor time, more practice, more people.

It requires timing, a particular quality of relaxation, and enough trust to let the movement complete itself.In this class we work through two straightforward entrances that make the gancho accessible from common situations in social dancing.We will also look at direction: most people think of the gancho as something the follower executes, but the leader can hook toward the follower as well, and working both directions gives a much fuller picture of what the gancho can do.

SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers.
