3 Hospitalized In Busy Day For Medford Fire Department

Firefighters were called to three fires in Medford Monday.

MEDFORD, MA — Three people, including one firefighter, were hospitalized in a series of fires in Medford Monday. The first fire broke out in the early afternoon at a home at Willis and Bonner Avenues, the fire department said.

During the first fire, a small porch fire reported on Rice Avenue. Emergency crews quickly extinguished the second fire while firefighters brought the fire on Willis Avenue under control. Firefighters were later called to a kitchen fire on Kenmere Road Monday evening.

Over the course of the three fires, two residents and one firefighter were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Crews worked hard yesterday to protect life and property," the Medford Fire Department said in a statement. "The fires were stopped quickly and three homes were saved."
