6 Medford Non-Profits Awarded $7K For The Holidays

Woburn-based Cummings Properties donated a collective $484k to hundreds of area non-profits through its Employee Directed Giving program.

MEDFORD, MA – Six Medford non-profits benefitted from an Employee Directed Giving program at Cummings Properties this holiday season. The Woburn-based commercial real estate company donated a collective $484,000 to hundreds of area non-profits, including $7,000 in Medford.

The organizations were Granara Skerry Trust, Heading Home, Kitty Connection, Medford Educational Foundation, Medford Fire Department, and Medford High School. This year Employee Directed Giving donated to 335 non-profits in 99 communities.

For the first time, the company asked its 140 employees with at least 10 years of seniority to select a second non-profit to receive an additional $1,000. The program was also expanded to include part-time staff with at least five years of seniority.

"This significant program expansion created even more opportunities for colleagues to think and talk about philanthropy, and to have a significant positive impact on local causes that are meaningful to them," Dennis Clarke, Cummings Properties’ chairman and CEO, said in a statement.

Employee Directed Giving is now in its seventh year. Each eligible organization can receive up to $5,000 per program cycle, allowing multiple staff members to choose the same non-profit. Twelve recipients received the maximum $5,000 donation.
