9th Annual Granara-Skerry Trust Pancreatic Cancer 5K Walk/Run to be Held on September 26th
Race will begin and end at the American Legion Hall in Medford
Lace up your sneakers and join the Granara-Skerry Trust for the 9th Annual Pancreatic Cancer 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, September 26th in Medford. The event will raise much needed funds for pancreatic cancer research at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and will commemorate the life of the Trust’s founder and Medford native, Kathleen Granara-Skerry.
Registration will begin at 8am, the run will start at 10am and the walk shortly thereafter. The USA Track & Field certified Walk/Run will begin and end at the American Legion Hall on Winthrop Street and will be professionally timed by 5K Sports Management. Results will be posted on Cool Running and top finishers will be awarded prizes immediately following the race.
Community members, family, friends and spectators are invited to attend the post-race reception at the American Legion Hall. The celebration will include a special appearance by Boston Bruins mascot Blades, raffles, refreshments, music, awards, prizes, children’s activities and live entertainment.

The 5K Walk/Run was founded by the late Kathleen Granara-Skerry, who battled pancreatic cancer and received treatment at the Mass General Cancer Center, to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer, promote treatment options and generate funds for research. An active and engaged philanthropist, Granara-Skerry was committed to raising one million dollars to support pancreatic cancer research at the Mass General Cancer Center. To date the Walk/Run has generated more than $800,000 for the Cancer Center.
