Bistro 489 At Medford Voc-Tech Gets Opening Date

MEDFORD, MA – A new student-run restaurant at the Medford Vocational Technical High School will open its doors Wednesday, Oct. 3. Bistro 489, which was also built by MVTHS students, will be open for breakfast on Wednesdays and breakfast and lunch on Thursdays and Fridays.

MVTHS Principal Chad Fallon told Eater the restaurant would include a "state-of-the-art cooking facility and will have the capacity to seat 120 patrons" when it was announced last year. Bistro 489 was partially funded by a $493,000 state grant and $250,000 from the city, Eater reported.

Juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to take part in co-op programs at the restaurant, which will give them industry credentials. Bistro 489's regular hours are 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
