School of Fashion Design

Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. With an SFD Certificate in Fashion Design, our alumni have enjoyed fashion careers with Adidas, Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, New Balance, PUMA, Ralph Lauren, Talbots, Timberland, TJX Companies, and more. Our alumni are designers and costumers for stage and screen, while others have found success launching their own label. Our varied class levels and flexible schedules are designed to meet the needs and profiles of all students. Play Academy Learning Center will be offering a CPR &amp; 1st Aid Training on Thursday, May 24th at 6:00 p.m.  The CPR/AED portion will be approximately 2 hours and the First Aid portion will be about 1 - 1.5 hours. Training will instruct appropriate methods and differences to use for an adult, child and infant. The cost for the CPR/AED training is $40.00 per person and the First Aid training is $25.00 per person. If taken as a combination course, the cost is $60.00. Play Academy is located at 65 Riverside Avenue right in Medford Square.  There is ample parking at the rear of the building.  Interested individuals should call 781-393-0022 to register or e-mail <a href="mailto:maria@play-academy.com" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">maria@play-academy.com</a>.
