Gluten Free Sightings in Unexpected Places

Gluten Free discoveries off the beaten path.

I was at Target (pronounced Tar-Zhayy) in Everett yesterday and was strolling through the grocery aisles in search of, well, really nothing, I was trying to get away from my family, but I did encounter Gluten-Free Bisquick!  This was a pleasant surprise as Zucchini Season is in full swing (Motto: Lock your doors!  Your neighbors are bringing MORE!) and baking zuke bread is a favorite fall passtime of mine.  I also was pleased to discover that Target stocks GF brownies and choc chip cookie mixes by Betty Crocker.  She was already one of my peeps, but now she is truly a gluten free goddess as well.

Another location where I have been pleasantly surprised to find gluten free goodness has been Market Basket in Chelsea.  I may have bored you to tears about this already, but in my mind, MB in Chelsea is GLUTEN FREE MECCA!  They have many labels throughout the store to alert folks to GF items, and word on the street is they now have a cheat-sheet listing what items are where, but I have yet to find it.

And in case you did not hear, Rice Krispies are now gluten free.  I say Snap! Crackle! Pop! friends, and go nuts making RK treats this fall.  Now that the barley malt is removed (the gluten culprit) we can begin to enjoy a mainstream grocery product with our friends and family.
