Marks Deserves Applause for Being Most Pro-Active Councilor

Dear Neighbors,

Michael Marks has been the most pro-active councilor we have and he deserves great credit from the people of Medford.  Mr. Marks efforts to bring parking enforcement to the administration's attention has finally materialized into action.  Mayor McGlynn has been forced to acknowledge this program is over due and needs to be instituted. His tireless drum beat has mobilized the people of Medford to speak up and speak out on this simple fix for our future (what every other city has already been doing for years).  Mr. Marks has been at the fore-front of water infiltration in our aging sewer pipes, traffic calming measures, attention to the lack of life in Medford Square, the Mayor's luxurious water taxi, hidden taxes through our cable franchise fees and our Water and Sewer Enterprize account.  His bravest vote of all was not caving to public pressure and voting against the illegal use (misappropriation) of the Water and Sewer money to pay for the 2011 budget shortfall.  The mayor then had to pull strings so that we wouldn't have to pay ourselves back $1.2 million dollars.  He stood alone in his courageous vote.  Mr. Maiocco, Mr. Penta, Ms. Koehn, Mr. Camuso, and Mr. Dello Russo all voted to take money out of this account and use it to make up for the general budget deficet. 

He has brought more forward in this last year than all the other councilors combined.  He's the one that brought to the fore the issue of parking enforcement and now with the people behind him the Mayor has had to start the process of finally instituting a parking enforcement policy.  Mr. Marks has been at the fore-front of traffic-calming efforts which the Mayor is now "trying out" on Central Ave.  Mr. Marks has put them on the city's radar.  He hasn't done this alone.  The people have been supporting him and backing him, momentum has been building behind him all year.  This city owes him a debt of graditude for his fore sight and strength as one our leaders.
