Summer Stories: A Class on Storytelling and Art
Summer Stories is a new class for kids offered at Springstep where I'll use storytelling to help kids connect art to their daily lives. It starts July 10th so come sign up and help spread the word!
Finding students is one of the hardest activites any new teacher is faced with, especially any new teacher working within a community setting. This summer, I'm starting a class called Summer Stories that will use storytelling to help children connect art to their daily lives. I'm doing this at Springstep, a non-profit organization in Medford right next to city hall. Springstep is a wonderful place with a beautiful building and a strong list of experienced teachers. The problem for me is that Springstep has a strong repertoire in adult dance classes and I'm starting a children's storytelling/art class.
Because of this I've been out in the community telling stories, calling people, sending emails. I've been to the Medford Farmer's Market twice now and will go again on July 5th if you want to come say hello! I'm scheduled to tell at the Union Square Farmer's Market towards the end of July and at the Medford Family Network Playgroups on July 10th and 12th. All these places, and more, have been incredibly welcoming to me and my stories.
I'm still trying to get the word out there and find interested students (and parents). If you want to find out more about the class you can watch my video introduction or a video of me telling The Three Dolls, a story from India. To find out more about me go to http://mirandaaisling.com, I'd be happy to hear from you!, or register for Summer Stories at http://springstep.org. Here's to more stories!
