Carolyn is a lifelong resident of Medford. She always had an interest in taking pictures but never thought of herself as a photographer. That all changed in 1996. While taking pictures at Bellevue Pond she ran into Adele Travisano. Inviting Adele to her house for tea, she showed Adele some of her pictures who upon seeing them proclaimed Carolyn a talented photographer. Carolyn also acknowledges the encouragement of Maureen Sonnie.
Taking up the mantle of photographer, she sought out opportunities to display her work. Within a short time she had had her first solo show at Habitat Education and Wildlife Sanctuary in Belmont. Over the past few years, she has been in a number of MACI shows, West Medford Open Studio, the Friends of the Fells art show in Melrose and has had several solo exhibitions.

Carolyn’s gifted eye captures nature’s magical moments through her nature and still-life photography. She is a self-taught photographer, for whom photography is not just a hobby but a way of sharing the beauty of nature with all people. Her favorite photograph is of a swan with its baby on its back, taken at the Swannery in England.
Carolyn’s opening reception will be Friday, June 7 from 6-9 pm.
Beginning Saturday, June 8th, the gallery is very excited to present the next generation of artists. We will feature the prize winning work of Medford High school students from the Boston Globe Show Art Competition that was held in February.
Thirteen winning pieces, mostly ceramics and sculpture from 10 students will be on display.
The opening reception will be from 12-6 on Saturday. There will be a special ceremony from 4- 6 with the students talking about their work. The exhibition runs Saturday 12-6, Sunday 12-4 and Monday 11-3.
