Breanna Lungo-Koehn Sworn In As Medford's 32nd Mayor

MEDFORD, MA — The Inaugural Celebration took place Sunday at the Chevalier Theatre. Breanna Lungo-Koehn was sworn in as the city's 32nd mayor, and the City Council and School Committee took their oaths of office. Lungo-Koehn is the third woman to hold the office of mayor.

Newcomers Zac Bears and Nicole Morell were elected to the City Council in November. They join incumbent city councilors John Falco Jr., George Scarpelli, Adam Knight, Michael Marks and Richard Caraviello.

Jenny Graham and Melanie McLaughlin are new to the School Committee, joining incumbents Kathleen Kreatz, Mea Quinn Mustone, Paul Ruseau and Paulette Van der Kloot.

In attendance at Sunday's ceremony were Sen. Ed Markey, Congresswoman Katherine Clark, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Middlesex County Registrar of Probate Tara Melo, Middlesex County Register of Deeds Maria C. Curtatone, state Sen. Patricia Jehlen and state Reps. Paul J. Donato, Christine Barber and Sean Garballey.

Medford resident and radio personality Hank Morse served as the Master of Ceremonies, and Medford native and Boston Marathon Race Director Dave McGillivray was a guest speaker.

Lungo-Koehn was given the oath of office by her mother, Susan Lungo. The City Council and School Committee were sworn in by City Clerk Adam Hurtubise.
