Join the Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) in celebrating our favorite fish — the river herring — through an evening of dance, lights, and visuals at Torbert Macdonald Park. 
MyRWA’s Artist in Residence, Andres Duarte, is excited to present a free outdoor art show at Macdonald Park in Medford on Saturday, October 4th. This special interactive performance will feature live music and theatrical dance with lights and visuals amidst the beauty of Macdonald Park. As Andres has developed his residency, he has been drawn to the Mystic’s river herring as a symbol of resilience, life, and migration that flows through our communities. Dance of the Herring — following in the footsteps of Fish on Wheels at the Herring Run and Paddle — will celebrate the river herring along the shores of the Mystic River.

Over 11 immersive months, you will encounter yoga’s classical philosophy, its therapeutic power, its energetic intelligence, and its most sophisticated methodologies — and carry all of it forward into your life, your practice, and wherever your path leads. Each monthly weekend immersion is thematically focused, carefully curated, and led by a faculty of master teachers. Between gatherings, two live Zoom sessions per month sustain your studies, your practice, and your growing community. This training stands apart: every one of its 270 hours is spent in direct contact with master teachers. That is not a small thing. It is where knowledge becomes wisdom. Upon completion, you will be eligible for the RYT-500 designation: Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level ~ not simply a credential, but a transformation. The Grownup Noise will be at the Condon Shell Summer Concert Series on Thursday, September 3rd. The show is from 6:30-8:00 pm and is free and open to the public. It's recommended that concert-goers bring chairs or blankets as there is no formal seating. Stop by the Medford Farmers Market first to stock up for the week, and then stay for the show! Medford Brewing Company will be on hand selling their delicious craft beers, as well.&nbsp;

On Sunday, September 20th, Sudbury will host our third inaugural <a href="https://kids.pmc.org/sudbury" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride</a>.&nbsp;Our ride is a 1-mile loop that riders may enjoy as long as they would like. The one mile course is entirely paved and loops through the beautiful residential neighborhoods of historic Sudbury. Parents are welcome to ride with their children but it is not required. If a parent chooses to accompany their child on the bike, we ask that they register as volunteers.&nbsp;
Many kids choose to ride the loop 3-6-12 or even 15 times. We encourage riders to participate as long as they would like. We will have special badges for riders who accomplish 5-8-12 and 15 miles, too! Please indicate at registration an estimate of your rider's total distance (this will help us for event organization).&nbsp;There is also an enclosed parking lot loop all starting from Curtis Middle School in Sudbury, MA. (Adults may opt to register as volunteers if they would like to ride with the kids). Before the ride there will be music and bike decorating; during the ride and following there will be an Ice-Cream Truck, Food Truck, Coffee Truck, huge bouncy castle, lawn games, music and more. All registered riders will get a free ice cream from our friends at Trombetta’s Farm Ice Cream. Registration takes place from 8:30am-9:45am. The ride is from 10:00am-11:30am, and food and games will be available from 10:00am - 1:00pm.
“The Pan-Mass Challenge is a Massachusetts-based bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. Always held the first weekend in August, the PMC raises funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research. Each summer, thousands of riders and volunteers from 43 states and 12 countries participate in the PMC, all with a common goal: to find a cure for cancer.
100 percent of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest supporter and is 62 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. Since 1980, the PMC has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber.”
The Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride empowers young participants to contribute to a meaningful cause while enjoying a fun activity. By offering multiple course options, every child will have the opportunity to participate and make a difference - regardless of age or ability. Each ride distance is carefully planned to be safe and enjoyable, with designated routes through historic Sudbury neighborhoods that are well-marked and closely monitored by volunteers. For the youngest participants, the tot lot loop provides a secure environment where kids can ride in a contained area - strollers, scooters, tricycles are ALL welcome!
Beyond the joy of bike riding, the Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride serves as a powerful educational experience for children, teaching them about the impact of collective efforts in fighting cancer. As they pedal for a purpose, they learn about empathy, community involvement, and the importance of supporting breakthroughs in treatment and cures at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This event not only raises crucial funds for cancer research but also instills valuable life lessons in the young riders; collectively we all pedal towards a more cancer-free future. As with all PMC rides, every penny donated goes directly to cancer treatment and research at Dana-Farber.
