Summer is a good time to try something you've been thinking about. Eight Thursday evenings and you'll know how to dance Argentine tango - and you'll have met people you wouldn't have met anywhere else.
People come to this course for different reasons. Some want to learn to dance. Some are looking for a new social circle. Some are curious about tango - the music, the culture, the way two people can have a full conversation without saying a single word. Some just wanted something worth doing this summer.
Whatever brings you, you don't need a partner and you don't need experience. Just show up.
What you'll learn: the tango walk, the embrace, the 8-count basic to the cross, how to connect and communicate non-verbally with a partner, how to read body language and respond to it, and the foundations of improvisation, navigation, and musicality.
Also included: every registered student gets access to the Tuesday Practica (8:30–11pm) at no extra cost. More floor time, more practice, more people.

Medford's own Susan Cattaneo and her band kick off the Condon Shell Summer Concert Series on Thursday, July 9th. The show is from 6:30-8:00 pm and is free and open to the public. It's recommended that concert-goers bring chairs or blankets as there is no formal seating. Stop by the Medford Farmers Market first to stock up for the week, and then stay for the show! Tango is a conversation. A live, improvised exchange between two people who have to listen as much as they speak.To have a real conversation, you need vocabulary. Just enough to say something meaningful, and to understand what's being said back. This summer, we're going back to the building blocks. Each Sunday, one element in its simplest, most usable form. The moves that show up in every tanda, in every embrace, at every level: ocho, molinete, barrida, sacada, boleo, gancho, volcada, colgada.If you've never learned them, this is where you start. If you learned them once and they've gone fuzzy, this is where you get them back. If you think you know them already, this is where things get interesting.No prerequisites.
