School of Fashion Design

Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. With an SFD Certificate in Fashion Design, our alumni have enjoyed fashion careers with Adidas, Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, New Balance, PUMA, Ralph Lauren, Talbots, Timberland, TJX Companies, and more. Our alumni are designers and costumers for stage and screen, while others have found success launching their own label. Our varied class levels and flexible schedules are designed to meet the needs and profiles of all students. No doubt, Joe has some skill with the pen/keyboard.  However, he has a tendency to be overly verbose (redundancy intended).  For example, he intentionally uses obscure words in a vain attempt to make himself look smart.  Well, smarter than the rest of us on Medford Patch. His latest etymological offering is Inurement. As used by Joe, this is actually Private Inurement.  From Wikipedia: Private Inurement is the illegal use of one's influence over a non-profit organization for personal profit. I did a quick internet search for related words and definitions.  Finding none, I was forced to create my own.  In part, they help define a writing style I call Vigiloni (rhymes with baloney). Obscurement:  Allegations and Invectives are effective at masking the truth Manurement:  Pretty much anything that comes out of Joe's mouth. Immaturement:  How Joe acts when he is losing an argument Prematurement:  One reason why Joe was never very popular with the ladies Detourment:  All roads (i.e. discussions) lead to TV3 Scoopdujourment:  BREAKING NEWS, MORE TO FOLLOW (of course, it never comes)Tracy Callahan, Observateur
