Coughlin Family Thanks Community for Outpouring of Love and Support

Family of James Coughlin Expresses Gratitude to Friends for their Support

The recent passing of Medford son, James (Jimmy) Coughlin (June 4, 1949 – March 2, 2017) was a sudden and tragic loss for his wife, three children, two grandchildren, five siblings and their families. Jimmy spent his life working and raising his family in Medford, and the outpouring of love and support we received during this difficult time was a true testament to his legacy and deep roots in the Medford community.

It is with humble and sincere gratitude that we thank the countless members of the Medford Police department who rallied around the family and turned out in force to pay their respects. Their unwavering presence, strength, support and love held us up and kept us steady.

We also extend a special thanks to Rich Raso of Raso's Bar & Grille, whose gracious and boundless generosity sustained us and helped us carry on.

And, dear friends, we are grateful to those from the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office, the Medford Public Schools, the City of Medford and Tufts Pool as well as the hundreds of others who showered the family with prayers, hugs and gestures of kindness – next door neighbors and long lost relatives, students both past and present, travelers from across the state and across the country, co-workers and co-conspirators – each with their own stories of “Jim”, “Mr. Coughlin”, the “LEGEND.” We shared laughter as well as tears during these sad days and knowing that Jimmy’s spirit lingers in the hearts of so many brings us tremendous joy and comfort.

Thank you to all for helping us lay Jimmy to rest. He would have been deeply touched to know that he was loved and respected by so many.
