Dragonwing girlgear Launches Kickstarter Campaign to Keep Girls Confident with Healthy Body Image

Dragonwing produces excellent fitting, high performance, age appropriate sports bras so girls can participate in sports with confidence.

Dragonwing girlgear has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The company stated it is looking to expand sizing options for the 8-17 year athletic girl bra market to meet the sizing needs of more of its customers. It is also introducing a new Racerback Sports Cami in black, with other colors, including white, available as a stretch goal.

The company noted that all of its products are designed specifically for the girl figure, provide high technical performance and are age appropriate.

Sharing details about starting up Dragonwing, founder MaryAnne Gucciardi, stated:

When my daughter was a pre-teen, she was a serious athlete in need of performance wear. We were forced to shop in the boys’ department sending the subliminal message that athletic girls were less than feminine. Clothes in the girls’ departments were all “fashion” and made of lower quality fabrics, not meant for seriously active girls. Women’s athletic wear didn’t fit correctly or worse –it wasn’t age-appropriate. Shopping trips were awkward especially for bras and support tops – and I didn’t want this to be a barrier to sports. When other mothers shared similar frustrations, I knew I had to do something to make a difference.

In regards to why the company launched the Kickstarter campaign, Gucciardi added:

“The purpose of the crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter is to get the word out to our consumers that we understand girls of every age come in every size. We are planning on introducing expanded sizes so that more girls will have access to our Racer Sports Bra. The initiative is set to close at the end of December 19, 2016. Gucciardi is an MHS alum.
