USA Hockey has selected Medford Youth Hockey, Medford Girl's Hockey and the LoConte Ice Rink, Medford to be one of several programs in Massachusetts to host the 5th Annual "Hockey Weekend Across America" events February 17-19, 2012. Programs across the United States will host events during the weekend.
Friday 2/17/12 - Hockey players are encouraged to wear their hockey jerseys throughout the day and including at school, if allowed. Youth hockey as been recognized throughout the United States for promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication and community pride.
Saturday 2/18/12 - Medford Youth Hockey & Girl's Hockey will host a "Try Hockey For Free Clinic" at the LoConte Ice Rink Medford from 12:00 PM (Noon) to 1:00 PM. Boys and girls ages 5-12 can try hockey for free and there will be Medford Hockey instructors on the ice to assist skaters. A hockey helmet or bike helmet are required. Ice skate rentals will be available for skaters without ice skates. Each skater will receive a free hockey jersey courtesy of USA Hockey and Reebok. Pre-registration is recommended by going onto the USA Hockey website and clicking into the Hockey Weekend Across America link.

Sunday 2/19/12 - Free Public Skating from 2:00 PM to 3:50 PM at the LoConte Rink will also provide an opportunity to view the new rink banners honoring Medford Youth Hockey & Girl's Hockey Championships, Medford High School Championships, Medford, MA Winter Olympic Hockey Participants and Medford Professional NHL former players Joe Sacco, Keith Tkachuk, Dave Sacco, Shawn Bates and Mike Morrison.
