Summer Garden Club at the Columbus School

Drop-In Summer Garden Club!

The Summer Garden Club is back for its fifth year!  Come and learn about gardening!  Grow your own Veggies and Fruits!    Do cool science projects!  Harvest and eat fresh organic veggies and fruits! 

Open to all children ages 5-12.  3 & 4 year olds welcome with a parent.

4 Wednesday mornings from 9:30 -11am:

  • July 25 - Plant cycles
  • August 1 - Beautiful Bugs and Worms
  • August 8 - Art in the Garden
  • August 15 - Cooking from the garden

Time:  9:30am-11am

Cost: FREE but registration is required to ensure that there are enough supplies. 

Location: Columbus School Garden and grounds (37 Hicks Ave. Medford)

Club leader: Susan Schmidt, science educator and Columbus school parent

This program is funded in part by a mini-grant from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. 

We are also looking for middle school, high school, and community volunteers who would like to help during the club and/or take care of the garden during July and August in exchange for vegetables.  The work would include watering, weeding, and harvesting.  No experience necessary, just a willingness to get your hands dirty.
