Gas Mains To Be Replaced On Harvard Street In Medford

Work is expected to begin in May. Here's how it will impact the area.

MEDFORD, MA – The city on Thursday announced upcoming gas main replacement on Harvard Street. National Grid is expected to begin work in mid-to-late May.

The project will replace four separate gas mains:

  • 1,180 feet of 12 inch medium pressure main on Harvard Street from Main St. to Winchester St.
  • 390 feet of 6 inch low pressure main on Harvard St. between No. 246 Harvard St. and Winchester St.
  • 250 feet of 4 inch low pressure main on Berwick Rd. from Harvard St. to Yale St.
  • 245 feet of 4 inch low pressure main on Bradford Ave from Harvard St. to Yale St.

Work is expected to take approximately three months to complete. It will take place Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

One lane of traffic will be closed while work is ongoing. It will be reopened on the evenings and Sundays.

The city will repave the road from Boston Avenue and Main Street when the project is finished.
