I am running the 2014 Boston Marathon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Memory of Eugene F. Grant, former Mayor of Medford.
Name: Kathryn Grant Frederick Age: 34
Goal: To run “Boston Strong” with so many other courageous and determined, runners and spectators while celebrating the life of my Dad and supporting the great efforts of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Reason for Running: I am running in remembrance of a great man, a lifelong son of Medford, my dad. This year will mark the 5th anniversary of his passing to Acute Myeloid Leukemia and I want to carry on his memory while raising money to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as they continue to find cures and advocate for patients and their families.

More: All these years later, my father still crosses my mind every day from an image of his light-up-the room smile, to a thought of what advice he would have given to me or to imagining how he would have loved every moment spent with his first grandchild. My father is never far from my heart or mind. I will be thinking of him, all of my dear friends and families who have faced the diagnosis of cancer, and all of those affected so greatly by last year's tragedy as I make my way into Boston on another beautiful Marathon Monday.
