Kevin Burke, Medford Native, Marine Veteran, Dies at 48

Burke was a Gulf War veteran.

Kevin M. Burke of Medford and Troy, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 10. He was 48.

Raised in Medford, Kevin was the son of the late Ulick Burke and the late Rosemarie (Baglio) Vecchia. He was the stepson of Michael Vecchia of Medford.

Kevin graduated from Matignon High School with the class of 1984 and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served until 1992 and was a veteran of the Gulf War. After his discharge from the service, Kevin worked in the aviation industry as a technician with Delta, FedEx and World Airlines. He was also a licensed pilot.

In addition to his stepfather, Mike, Kevin leaves his daughter Caitlin Burke of Schaumburg, Illinois. He also leaves his siblings: William Burke of Oak Bluffs, Stephen Burke and his partner Thomas Ottaviano of Holbrook, Jennifer McGlynn and her husband David of Medford, Chief Petty Officer Daniel Burke and his wife Dena of California, Amy Flemming and her husband Shawn of Hudson, New Hampshire, and First Sergeant Michael A. Vecchia Jr., USMC, and his wife Jennifer of California.

He was the nephew of William Burke and his wife Maureen, Carmella Velucci Paula and her husband George, Ellen Baglio, Barbara and Michael Guererro, Mildred and Paul Curley and the late Joseph, Eleanor and John Baglio. Kevin also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. concluding with a funeral service and military honors at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
